30 suggestions to enrich your working life routine
If your work life is in a rut, stress levels are high and everything seems grey, it's time to do something urgently! These moments do happen in working life - not all days are the same, some are harder than others. However, it's not normal for a situation like this to persist for long periods of time. In this case, we need to be proactive and look for ways to improve our working lives.
I'm sharing with you 30 small thoughts and suggestions that can help make our daily working life better and keep our minds fresh. Give it a try!Β
1. A good sense of humour - when things seem particularly difficult and motivation is gone, the ability to make jokes can be a lifesaver. Humour can help you get through the most difficult situations.
2. Constant eagerness to learn - when the desire to learn disappears, the joy of life is gone and days become grey and dull. Find something that speaks to you at work (or something new, e.g. other tasks, shadowing a colleague, etc.), or do something exciting outside of work.
3. Communicate with colleagues - communication has been scientifically proven to help keep us mentally healthy and alert. Getting on well with colleagues creates a positive working atmosphere.
4. Engaging in hobbies - hobbies help to bring freshness to the workplace (they generate new topics for conversation and often knowledge that can be applied at work). I'm always amazed at how closely all our activities are linked.
5. Participation in team events - Managers could organise regular team events to help employees get to know each other better and strengthen team spirit.
6. Green plant on the desktop - Greenery around us calms and creates beauty. Bring a green plant to your desk and enjoy its beauty... (and don't forget to water it).
7. Bring your pet to work - some offices allow employees to bring their pets to work. As long as it doesn't cause stress for the animal, and is suitable for colleagues, it can be a fun way to brighten up the working day.
8. Bring headphones - if you need quiet, peace or need to concentrate, especially in an open office, keep headphones handy.
9. A positive morning - come to work feeling positive, even if the morning started off difficult. It's not your colleagues' fault you're in a bad mood. Try to find the good in the little things every day.
10. Physical activity - Exercise and movement keep both mental and physical health in good shape.
11. Listen to others - don't try to be the 'smartest person in the room' - look for people who have something interesting to share and who inspire.
12. Coffee, tea or a snack? - A small cup of coffee or tea always cheers you up.
13. A playful approach - As adults, we often tend to forget how to get excited about something. Sometimes take things more freely and playfully.
14. Be curious - if you're open to new knowledge and always ready to learn, life will always be interesting.
15. Unleashing some of the problems - you may encounter difficult people or situations at work, but by focusing on your work and keeping your spirits up, things will go more smoothly.
16. Laugh from the heart - it's great to have someone in the workplace who can crack jokes and lift your spirits.
17. Set yourself challenges - sometimes try to do things differently than you are used to . It brings excitement and can lead to completely new discoveries.
18. Get a good rest - when you rest, you really rest! Don't read emails.
19. Setting boundaries wisely - Setting limits is very important from the first day of work (but unfortunately we often get to this point when the workload is already overwhelming and starting to take its toll on our health). Prevent these situations.
20. Environmental exchange - a new environment, whether it's a short trip or rearranging the furniture in your home, brings new energy and freshness.
21. OK desktop - if keeping your desk tidy helps your work ethic, keep it tidy (may not be true for everyone, but it is for me :))
22. Cultural experiences - a theatre performance, concert or other cultural experience can help you get away from work for a while and give you a fresh perspective for the next day.
23. Regular breaks - take regular breaks at work and exercise. It helps your mind to think.
24. Sometimes you need to be alone - if possible, spend time alone to think and focus. Sometimes, for example, a walk can bring just the right thoughts.
25. Don't be jealous - Jealousy is the most pointless activity to channel your energy into. Instead, focus on improving your life and wake up every morning with the question, "how can I make my life better today?!".
26. Mapping the vision - think about your vision at work too. Where do you want to go and what do you need to do to get there? Sometimes it's worth reviewing your journey and changing direction if necessary.
27. Learning from failure - often it is the biggest failures that are the best teachers. We learn from them more quickly and can see/do things differently in the future.
28. Work-life balance - keep your balance and don't work at home.
29. Motivation minutes - listen to an inspiring podcast, watch a series or read something to energise and lift your mood.
30. Laugh! - a smile works wonders. Smile at the world and the world smiles back.
Have a great new working week starting soon!
