Where has our ability to dream gone?
I was walking by the sea yesterday and thought about this. I've attended many job interviews as a recruiter and talked to people through career advice sessions. Often I see that many people have lost the ability to dream and look to the future. Is this true for you?
It seems to me that the fast pace of life, the routine, the constant stress and the societal norms have done their job and pushed us into a fixed framework. When I was a recruiter, I used to love to ask people questions in interviews that they were not ready for. Why? In the best sense of the word, to find out what the person is really like, what they dream about, what they think about, what suits them and what they expect from a new job. Of course, we also talked about work experience and so on. And through this we discussed together whether the job they were applying for would be a good fit for them. I saw that people often get "locked in" with very human questions, because they think about what they "have to say" and often lack a clear understanding of what they want. I encourage you to always be sure of yourself and not to think about what is expected of you. That's how the most interesting conversations are born. Of course, a lot also depends on the person sitting across the table at the interview - so for recruiters and managers, I would always recommend an open mind, an open attitude and the ability to listen and understand people!
Personally, I think that dreams help us to move forward in life, to set goals and to achieve them.
The weekend is coming... take some time to think about what motivates you in life, where you want to get to, what's exciting for you to do, and always keep these thoughts in mind.
A picture of beautiful Scotland!
Have a great weekend!
